Can't install an application, getting an "advertised application unsafe" error
I am trying to install the "plus pack" for Acronis True Image 2011, but it gives me the error message "The advertised application will not be installed because it might be unsafe. Contact your administrator to change the installation user interface option of the package to basic" . It's an msi file. Searching the web i found the msiexec.exe switches about basic mode etc but they didn't manage to install the application. I suspected that maybe it's related to installation of previous a version of "plus pack" and Acronis True Image which has been unistalled though first. So i tried to install the previous version plus pack but it gives an error message "another version of this application is already installed" .... Uninstalling and clearing the registry of "Acronis" entries doesn't seem to make any difference ... I am suspecting that there are installation leftovers , broken uninstallation or installation that create those issues, for example i have an issue with Acronis disk director 11 too, as when i choosing the "edit" option on a disk or partition , Disk Director crashes. Before Disk Director 11 i had Disk Director 10, which i uninstalled first, I never had any issues with those acronis programs before ... If that's the case, Any ideas how can i make my system completely Acronis virgin ? Windows 7 x64

Since you're having a problem with a third party piece of software, why don't you go to the Acronis website and see if you might find an answer there? Acronis does have an support section and they have FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions). I have found the publisher of third party software to be the best source of assistance with their software. They know more about their own software than anyone posting in a Microsoft forum! Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

Ι am coming from there because so far the feedback there has been unfruitfull and i am on some deadline on resolving these issues. My aim here is to find out about possibly more that i can do on removing anything Acronis related from my system on a deeper level (msi installer engine ? dont know, i am ignorant in this aspect) Hoping that there are things i can do to clean applications in general from a system beyond the windows uninstaller and cleaning the registry from straight-forward keyword entries or effective ways to deal with broken uninstallations / installations (spoting GUIDs? and such) or update msi installer engine ? etc

Hi, You approached us with the problem about Acronis True Image 2011 as a third-party software. But the forum just focus on Windows 7. Although it don’t provide support for it, I would like to recommend post the acronis website for further help: http://www.acronis.com/

Thank you. I thought there might be maybe some solution in global knowledge about "deeper" than usual uninstall (regarding in general .msi installation/uninstall engines) procedures. The same issue AFAIK might appear again with some other application that uses the .msi installation engine. I had to provide the details as to which application specifically is the incidence related to. As i said i had first posted in Acronis forums and support but so far there hasn't been any response. Its the second week i am trying to solve this.
